In a collaborative effort to promote sustainable practices within the fashion industry, we collaborated with Impact Studio, supported by Arc’teryx to host a workshop dedicated to circular design. Held at the VIETTI shop in Arona, Italy, the workshop provided a hands-on learning experience for participants, empowering them with the skills to transform surplus clothing into unique and stylish garments. The workshop, titled "The Art of Circular Design", aimed to raise awareness about the environmental impact of the fashion industry, inspiring and empowering participants to adopt a more sustainable approach to their wardrobes. By upcycling and reimagining used garments, participants actively contributed to reducing textile waste and promoting a circular fashion economy. Under the expert guidance of Impact Studio's designers, participants were guided through the process of transforming discarded outdoor clothing sourced from Arc’teryx’s manufacturing facility. End-of-roll and "worn beyond optimum" materials were given a new life as participants unleashed their creativity, breathing new life into these discarded materials. The workshop not only imparted valuable skills but also fostered a sense of community among participants. As they delved into the intricacies of upcycling, participants shared ideas, exchanged techniques, and discovered a shared passion for sustainable fashion. The workshop's success lies in its ability to bridge the gap between environmental consciousness and creative expression. By providing a platform for participants to learn and practice circular design principles, the workshop empowered them to become active agents of change in the fashion industry. Following the workshop, more members of the VIETTI community joined us for a social event to view the creations and understand the process that was taken. Mountaineer, Paolo Marazzi, joined us to share his story, as well as Barosing DJ’s from Wanderlust Vision who provided the music for the evening. "The Art of Circular Design" workshop serves as a testament to the transformative power of upcycling and its potential to revolutionise the fashion industry. By embracing circular design practices, we can collectively reduce our environmental impact and foster a more sustainable future for fashion.
